Director General, Dr. Edington Chilapondwa appreciating some of the youth led businesses displayed at the summit
On Friday, 8 March 2024, the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA) participated in the Mzuzu Youth Entrepreneurship Summit held at Springs Valley in the City of Mzuzu. Flying under the theme "Embracing Green Innovations for Socioeconomic Development: Towards 2063 Realization," the summit seeks, among other things, to enhance the use of eco-friendly ideas to grow the economy and improve the quality of life for young people and Malawi as a nation.
Being cognizant of the importance of investing in initiatives that foster innovation and economic growth among our youth in the realization of the Malawi government's national vision of becoming an 'inclusively wealthy and self-reliant industrialized middle-income country by 2030', PPDA is proud to announce its support for Mzuzu Youth Entrepreneurship by sponsoring the summit with MK500,000.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Edington Chilapondwa, the Director General and the guest of honor at the event, expressed his delight and inspiration by the initiatives being undertaken by the youth. "This summit aligns perfectly with the mandate of PPDA, especially in promoting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Malawi. We are thrilled to partner with the Mzuzu Youth Entrepreneurship Summit by sponsoring the event with MK500,000," says Dr. Chilapondwa.
PPDA implements the MSME Order of 2020, which mandates the promotion and support of local MSMEs across the country. Through initiatives like the Mzuzu Youth Entrepreneurship Summit, PPDA aims to create opportunities for young entrepreneurs to thrive and contribute to the growth of our economy. "Our support for the summit underscores our commitment to ensuring that local MSMEs are promoted and empowered," Dr. Chilapondwa emphasizes. "We believe that by investing in our youth and supporting their entrepreneurial endeavors, we can create a more vibrant and inclusive economy for all. Together, we can build a brighter future for our youth and our nation," he said.
