On Wednesday, October 8th, 2025, the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA) successfully concluded its Awareness Road Shows on the Malawi National Electronic Procurement System (MANePS) within the city of Lilongwe, with the initiative yielding instant remarkable results.
The turnout for the subsequent Handholding Sessions which took place at the Authority’s Digital Hub more than doubled to over 60 participants.
The Road Shows, which took place across Thanki, Wakawaka, Mgona, Kanengo, Mtandile, and Nsungwi markets, attracted large crowds eager to learn how to register and do business with Government through the Malawi National Electronic Government Procurement System (MANePS).
A key highlight of the campaign was the edutainment approach, which proved highly effective in capturing public attention and sustaining engagement.
The use of dancers, entertaining MC, and lively music brought energy and excitement to each stop, transforming the sessions into vibrant learning experiences.
Through this blend of information and entertainment, communities not only listened but actively participated, asking questions and seeking guidance on registration and opportunities available for MSMEs.
E-Procurement Manager for the PPDA Yvonne Kasamba hailed the initiative which she described as empowering to the Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“The turnout reflects a growing interest among MSMEs to participate in government procurement through MANePS. Our goal is to make the system accessible, user-friendly, and inclusive and the success of these awareness activities proves that when we take information to the people in creative and engaging ways, they respond positively,” she said.
Encouraged by the success in Lilongwe, the PPDA team has now taken the MANePS Awareness Road Shows to Blantyre, where similar activities will be conducted this week.
The team is expected to visit Bangwe, Ndirande, Zingwangwa, and Chigumula, continuing to empower local entrepreneurs with knowledge on how to access business opportunities through MANEPS.
