THE AUTHORITY
The newly appointed Board of Directors of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA) has officially assumed office and was taken through an orientation session conducted by the Secretariat.
The orientation aimed to familiarize the Board with the Authority’s mandate, core functions, operational framework, and strategic priorities to enable effective oversight and informed decision-making from the onset of their tenure.
Speaking during the session, Board Chairperson, Dr. Kalekeni Kaphale, congratulated fellow Board members on their appointment and called on them to approach their responsibilities with commitment and integrity.
He emphasized the significance of their role, noting that a substantial portion of the nation’s resources is spent through Public Procurement, making effective governance and oversight critical to promoting accountability, efficiency, and value for money.
Dr. Kaphale further encouraged the Board to work closely with the Secretariat to strengthen systems that uphold transparency, fairness, and public confidence in the procurement and disposal process.
The orientation marks an important step in preparing the Board to provide strategic leadership and oversight as the Authority continues to advance reforms and enhance the integrity of public procurement in Malawi.
