The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) is conducting a five-day Phase 2 training for 43 Procuring and Disposing Entities (PDEs) under the Malawi National Electronic Procurement System (MANEPS), marking continued progress towards full implementation of the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP).
The training follows the successful completion of Phase 1, during which participating PDEs uploaded their Annual Procurement Plans onto the system.
Phase 2 focuses on building practical competencies in the use of MANEPS, with particular emphasis on the e-Government Marketplace (e-GM) and End-to-End e-Tendering.
Over the five-day period, participants are being taken through the complete electronic procurement cycle, including procurement requisition, tender preparation, solicitation, evaluation, and contract award.
Speaking during the opening session, PPDA’s Acting Director General (ADG) Timothy Kalembo congratulated the participating PDEs for their commitment to the reform process and encouraged them to fully utilize the system to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in public procurement.
PPDA reaffirmed its commitment to the successful implementation of the e-GP programme, which is designed to modernise procurement processes, improve value for money, and strengthen public service delivery.
The ADG also acknowledged the Government’s continued support to the program through the Secretary to Treasury (ST), whose backing remains critical to the successful rollout of MANePS nationwide.
The Phase 2 training represents another significant milestone in Malawi’s journey towards a fully digital, transparent, and efficient public procurement system.
